LocoParts description:
“Our Brake Valve is constructed from brass bar-stock. The valve disk uses a Teflon valve seat to minimize by-pass leaks. It comes complete with inlet and outlet unions for 3/16” tube silver solder connections and is ready to install. Vent port is tapped ¼-28. Spring and Screws are stainless steel. Body diameter is 1-1/8”. Height is approximately 2”.
Note: ‘steam in’ can be either end of the ports, ‘steam out’ to the brake cylinder or ejector is the center port. The unused end port is the brake system vent port to release steam from the cylinders once the brakes are no longer applied.”
The valve has an integral stand base with three pilot holes for mounting to the deck on the locomotive cab.
This valve theoretically can be used for straight air brakes also.
