Update: In my previous listing, the two partially build Pannier tank engines I own were offered for sale as a pair. After receiving feedback suggesting that they be sold separately, I am taking this advice and revising this add to offer the more complete of the two for sale. The sister engine that is less complete will be listed separately. Below are the details:

For sale is a partially complete 1" scale 4.75" gauge LSBC design Pannier 'Pansy' 0-6-0 tank engine. This loco was made by the late Stuart Sparke, who was a live steam enthusiast and machinist who resided in northern NJ. I purchased this and a sister engine from his estate with the intention of completing them. For better or worse, I have too many projects and would like to pass them along to someone who can continue his legacy and get them under steam.

In my estimation, this engine is about 80% complete. The boiler (silver soldered copper with copper tubes) is finished and was hyrdo tested to 160 lbs. of pressure in 1998. The cylinders and motion works are complete, as is the super-heater, throttle, cab, steam dome, brakes, buffers, and side tanks. Also present with the engine are many other small important bits such as the cylinder drains, ash pan, grates, injector, etc. While more work is required to complete the locomotive (e.g., plumbing, boiler jacketing, fitting out, etc.).

Also included (not pictured) is a binder of technical drawings, pictures of the build, and notes that Stuart took during the creation of these engines. It appears that he followed plans from LSBC that were published as a series of articles. I did not take an exhaustive inventory of parts, but please look at the images and ask questions. If you would like more pics, please let me know and I will gladly take them. In summary, the machining work is of good quality and deserving of a good home.

I would strongly prefer local pick up, as the total weight of the locomotive is somewhere between 200-250 lbs. I am located in Horseheads NY, 14845 and am happy to store the engine my climate controlled shop until pickup. About once a month I am in northern NJ during a weekend and would be happy to bring the it along for the buyer to pick up near Rockaway NJ. If shipping is desired, I am begrudgingly willing to pack the engine at no cost, but all costs associated with shipping and insurance are the buyer's responsibility. That being said, it's heavy and would be packed in multiple boxes so the total shipping cost would be likely be significant.
